If
this is your first viewing of a webcast, there are
some steps that you can take ahead of time to make
the experience enjoyable.
FAQs
about the webcast:
Q:
How will I know when the contests are ready for
viewing?
A: There will be a link on the Region
24 Home Page.
Q:
What kind of computer setup do I need?
A: Generally, the newer and faster your computer,
the better your streaming experience (but you probably
already knew that!). XP or higher is recommended.
In addition, a high speed/broadband internet connection
is preferable. Older, slower computers or ones with
dial-up connections may experience stops and starts
as the buffering kicks in, or may even receive only
audio.
Q:
What program do I need to view the webcast?
A: PC users should be sure they're running the latest
version of Windows Media Player (version 11). If
you're not sure you have the latest version, run
the Windows Update and see if it prompts you to
load a newer version, or click
here to go directly to the WMP site. The program
is free to download.
Q:
What about Mac users?
A: Mac users will need to download a program called
Flip4Mac to best view the stream; you can find it
here.
Q:
Can I network this or watch on my WiFi connection?
A: In all cases, we recommend against trying to
watch the stream on a computer that is connected
via wireless (WiFi), as the "pipe" the
information flows through can be too small and/or
unreliable for problem-free viewing. If you must
watch on a notebook, please directly connect the
computer to your router with a cable to help guarantee
a big enough pipe.
Q:
What will the sound be like?
A: Having decent speakers will be a huge aide in
appreciating and enjoying the webcast. Notebook
speakers, and many cheaper speakers that come with
a computer, are poor choices for listening simply
because they can't reproduce vocal sounds that well.
If you must watch on a notebook, we suggest using
headphones or earbuds to get a better quality of
sound.
Q:
Is there any way that I can download the webcast
to my computer so I can watch it later at my leisure?
A: Well, now, that would be a copyright infringement
on all our parts, so we're going to have to say
"no"!
Q:
Any other tips?
A: Try to avoid having any other internet programs
running on the computer during the stream, such
as your email or messenger chat programs. These
programs can spontaneously take up a chunk of network
processing on your computer causing buffering in
the stream for you, and it always happens during
the best chord of the song!
Thanks
for your support and we hope you enjoy the shows! |

card and/or bank numbers are never seen by the seller
so your financial information stays safe. Plus,
you’re protected 100% against unauthorized
payments sent from your account.
Q:
What exactly does "That 'ticket' entitle the
computer from which the payment is made to view
the sessions for a single 24-hour period anytime
before Friday, May 30th, mean?
A: First, it means you must watch the webcast from
the computer you used to purchase your "ticket".
It also means when you access the webcast, you have
24 hours of viewing time. If you begin watching
at 8:02 pm on Sunday, you have until 8:02 pm on
Monday to watch the archived material. The archived
webcast will be taken down on May 31st.
